G.A. RITTENHOUSE
Aluminum is where owning more than one furnace pays. Clean extrusion belongs on induction where the chemistry holds; painted, coated and mixed feed goes to the rotary, which is built for exactly the material a clean-charge operation would turn away.
6061 and 6063 profile, frame, rail and structural sections. Clean and painted both taken, graded apart.
Cladding, panel, tread plate and fabrication offcuts.
Housings, manifolds, gearcases and pump bodies. Steel inserts should be declared, not hidden.
Cast and forged wheels. Kept as their own grade — they are a cleaner alloy than general cast.
Machining swarf. Wet or oily turnings are still takeable; tell us and we will route them correctly.
Aluminum and mixed aluminum-copper cores, priced on recovery.
Grading is not our invention and it is not a negotiating tactic — it is how this material is priced everywhere. Knowing which grade you are holding is the difference between being paid for it and being paid for the cheapest thing in the container.
| Grade | What it is |
|---|---|
| Clean extrusion | Unpainted, unanodised 6xxx profile, free of thermal break, rubber and steel. |
| Painted extrusion | Same profile carrying coating. The coating is a processing cost, not a disqualification. |
| Cast | Housings, blocks and general castings. Alloyed for casting rather than forming. |
| Sheet | Rolled product — cladding, panel and plate. |
| Turnings | Swarf, graded on oil and moisture content as much as on alloy. |
Rotary for coated, oily and mixed feed; induction where a specification has to be held. Out as ingot, sow or pig depending on what the receiving operation charges.
One offer covering removal, freight and the metal. Because we own the furnace there is a floor under the number, and we can price it without finding a buyer first.
Keep title to your own material and pay to have it run and returned as ingot, bar, sow or pig. How tolling works.
Everything is re-weighed here and the ticket goes to you. Chemistry on blended product is verified by an independent laboratory, not by us. What comes out.
Most jobs arrive as a mix. Separated metal prices as itself, so it is worth knowing what else is in the pile. All metals we buy.
